neo varde
Neovarde is a sculpture that appropriates the cairn — a form traditionally found in mountainous and uninhabited landscapes. In its shape and materiality, it resembles a familiar marker in the terrain, evoking the sense of encountering a sign in the landscape. Upon closer approach, however, its function is revealed: the cairn is also a bread oven.
The sculpture functions not only as a visual marker in its surroundings, but also as a symbol of community, inviting togetherness, collective action, and participation.
Exhibited at: Billedhoggerforeningen , as part of the sculpture park.
Update: As of May 2026, the sculpture has been relocated to Bakerenga Park in Gamle Oslo, where it continues its public presence in a new context.
